About
Located in the heart of Birmingham at 795 Stratford Rd, Springfield, Channi's Indian Restaurant is a place where culinary tradition meets a warm, inviting atmosphere. Known for its authentic Indian cuisine, this establishment has gained a loyal following, and it’s easy to see why.
Channi's is not just another Indian restaurant; it's a culinary haven that thrives on delivering freshly cooked dishes, each prepared with love and attention. The menu boasts a variety of bases, from the aromatic Bhoona to the rich and creamy Makhani/Butter. Signature dishes such as the Malai Kofta and Chicken Tikka Masala highlight the culinary expertise of Chef Channi, who cooks every meal as if welcoming old friends into his home.
Customer reviews reflect a glowing sentiment towards the restaurant's ambiance and service. As one patron, Mark Brockington, noted, it’s a perfect spot for gatherings with friends, providing not just great food but a space that encourages community and connection. This unique approach ensures that every meal is enjoyable and tailored to individual tastes. For sides, the variety of naan options—from classic Garlic Naan to the indulgent Cheese Naan—complement the main courses beautifully.
One can't overlook the stunning presentation of dishes like the Fish Pakora, as noted by Sammo Ed, where a perfect crunch meets an explosion of flavor. Each bite is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence, and the friendly owner is always eager to share insights about the food's ingredients and allergens.

I last went to Channi's 15 years ago with a couple of same guys on this visit .. if you want freshly cooked food with grwat service then this i know you won't be disappointed. All in all it was great night we got there at 7 and left after 11. ”
“ Humble surroundings mask a true gift to the palate. Service is slow. But Channi bhai cooks for you as if you are guests that have turned up after years and ensures time stands still for him to show his mastery and then sits down to have a chat as if he is done for the night just to be with you. Unpretentious, gracious and a charming raconteur ”
“ I can honestly say that the food I ordered from this restaurant was extremely delighful. Cooked with love and passion. The owner was really friendly and informative about the food and its allergens. He gave me all the information I needed to know about the spices he used and was just really a nice guy. The lamb and spinach was 10/10. Also the fish pakora were fabulously presented, with just the rite amount of crunch to it I would go back for more. I would highly recommend this place if you wish to eat good food. 5 stars ”
“ Quite and intimate. Can take your own alcohol which is great. Food is amazing. ”
“ Lovely and friendly place and beautiful cooked food. The chef is amazing and happy to accommodate any food requests to your liking the best dish I had was the chicken tikka masala with naan bread ”
“ I don't visit this restaurant enough even though I only live round the corner. The food was absolutely great as it always is. Not been in here for a well & as I walked in was greeted with a big smile & hand shake from the owner Channi. Need to start visiting on a regular basis. ”
“ The food here is excellent, but the atmosphere could do with some work... There was almost nobody else there when my group showed up and they were playing a movie or something over the speakers instead of music while we were eating. Maybe we just caught them at a bad time because the curry itself was amazing so I'd love to go back ”
“ Such a real authentic place, cooked by a Channi himself a man who cooks with heart. The food has a subtle wholesome taste, the Makanni is superb, the lamb long cookedand the rice has dicate flavours. Its golden yellow wall and oak floor quietly places you somewhere else further east of Birmingham. You want to know an origin of the B triangle you may start here. The price is just right, and there is bar if you like to drink spirits. ”
